In a letter from Ann Keen MP the Parliamentary Under Secretary of State for the Department of Health in 2009 she informed me that: “In October 2006, we launched the Musculoskeletal Services Framework, which sets out guidance to provide high quality and integrated services for people with musculoskeletal conditions, including fibromyalgia. The framework was developed in consultation with patients themselves, and with organisations representing them.
The framework aims to improve assessment, diagnosis and treatment for fibromyalgia and other musculoskeletal conditions. It encourages more support for people to manage their own conditions and get access to better information and advice. It also provides a clearer focus on the needs of children and their families, and sets an 18 – week target for referrals from GPs to the start of hospital treatment.

Nothing is true. As a fibromyalgia patient you are left alone. GP’s do not know how to treat you. In the end everything you complain about is counted as fibromyalgia! To see a specialist you have to do your own research and when finaly finding one on NHS you have to fight for it to be referred. After being diagnosed, your GP does not know how to help you further. You have to do your own research, just to find out, that certain relief and test are not available in this country. Well USA is much much more advanced with diagnosing and treating Fibro patients. However I am living in UK and am loosing out completely.

It does feel like it at the moment and totally agree with about everything you say. It seems like the USA is far better, is it just “Grass is greener” though? Who knows, the best drugs for Fibro seem to be Alcohol and Cannabis, although I don’t partake.
Also a problem is benefits and the new reform are swamping everyone in paperwork, the DWP, ATOS, Tribunals, CAB, Charities, GP’s, Consultants and last but not least US (The claimant) You must read my latest post on the front page about the matter.
Also welcome to the site, I am putting so much time into it its unbelievable. Thank you for taking your time to comment, please feel free to comment anywhere else etc and have a good poke round. If you do Twitter/Facebook the links are on the Links page for you.
I wish you the best possible Health.
